Marijuana Repeal, Primary Reform Questions Head to Newton Voters This Fall
NEWTON — Nine statewide ballot questions, including a proposed repeal of legal marijuana sales and an overhaul of the state primary system, are headed to Massachusetts voters this November, Patch reported this week. The state's highest court had already knocked rent-control and income-tax-cut proposals out of contention before the final slate was set.

The Newton Free Library will stay closed on Sundays for the rest of July and August, part of its scaled-back summer schedule of Monday-through-Thursday 9 a.m.-9 p.m., Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m.-5 p.m. hours, according to the library.
The library's "Summer at the Hyde" outdoor family concert series continues July 24 at 10:30 a.m., and a Winnie-the-Pooh-themed escape room runs both July 23 and July 24 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. as part of the library's 2026 Summer Reading Program.
