Newton Approves Return of Two Ward 2 Polling Sites to Renovated Senior Center
NEWTON — June 24, 2026 — Newton committee unanimously restores two Ward 2 polling sites to the Cooper Center for Active Living. The Other Committee voted without opposition on June 24 to approve docket 213-26, returning Ward 2, Precincts 2 and 3 to the newly renovated senior center, which had served as their polling location before construction forced a temporary move to Cabot School. Deputy Clerk and Interim City Clerk Jill Seppa presented the item, noting the Cooper Center is ADA compliant and that the Newton Election Commission had voted to endorse the change at its own meeting earlier that evening. Committee member Mr. Temple confirmed a mailer is planned for all registered voters in the two precincts, addressing Chair President Oliver's question about how residents would be notified of the change.
