Other Committee · Meeting of April 14, 2026
NEWTON — The Newton Land Use Committee continued two pending housing special permit cases after a broken Zoom link blocked remote public participation. Chair Andrea Kelly said the link, set up by a staffer no longer with the city, was "not functional," and she declined to let the committee deliberate "in the spirit of open meeting law." Members present, including Vice Chair Allison Leary and Councillors Tariq Lucas, Randy Block, Julie Irish, Sean Roach and Stephen Farrell, unanimously voted by voice to hold a height-and-parking-waiver request at 1100-1102 Beacon Street and a 16-unit attached single-family proposal at 93, 103 and 0 Thurston Road. Councillor Lucas asked the city to resend legal notices.
No new hearing date was set; staff said another meeting may be added in April or May.
